Hazeldean Hotel

For quite some time I have been noticing the work being done on Hazeldean Hotel, the old hotel on Bury New Road, and I was thrilled to take pictures for them.

When I came in, I was welcomed by the most wonderful people, Jeff and his son Guy, who are the new managers of Hazeldean. They wanted new fresh pictures of the hotel for their website, and as you can see below, the place was really old and run-down; such a difference to the look now.

For quite some time I have been noticing the work being done on Hazeldean Hotel,

*****

We started to take photos in the front lobby, with its lovely chairs for sitting and relaxing, and after that we took photos in the bedrooms. The hotel has a variety of rooms, and it was clearly important for the managers that people know they can choose the best rooms that suit them. As you can see there are different sized rooms and suites, perfect for couples, families or groups. The hotel is really family and child friendly, so it is the perfect place to stay if you are travelling with children.

The dining room was the next stop for our pictures. The hotel offers breakfast to their guests with the best bread and pastries from local Kosher bakeries.

One of the things that was important for Jeff and Guy was to have photos of the outside of the building both in sunlight and by night, so since it was a Winter Day, we started by taking the outdoor photos, and by the time we were finished inside, we went back out to take these gorgeous pictures with the building lit up at night.

After Guy chose his photos, I asked him a few questions about the hotel, as behind each business there is a person and it’s always nice to get to know them better.

TELL ME IN FEW WORDS ABOUT YOUR HOTEL.

We bought the hotel two years ago and spent those two years fully renovating the hotel to bring it back with a modern twist on its former glory.

WHAT PROBLEM DOES YOUR BUSINESS SOLVE?

The hotel allows for orthodox Jews to stay overnight and have a kosher breakfast, and if the stay is over the weekend, we have made it practical for these guests as well, since the hotel is Shabbos friendly, with integrated Shabbos lighting and mechanical locks in all the rooms. But off course we are glad to take bookings from the general public as well.

WHAT WAS YOUR MISSION AT THE START OF YOUR COMPANY?

The mission was to take a rundown building and restore it with love and care. Also we wanted to create a vibrant, successful hotel, catering to people coming to Manchester on business or for weddings, bar mitzvahs and other simchas.

WHO IS YOUR HERO?

Elon Musk, for his ability to envision the future and to make this future a reality.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?

Large snakes, I really don’t like snakes!

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO WORK HARD?

The sense of achievement I get when I work.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT YOUR CAREER?

Every day is different; there is never a dull day in the hotel industry.

IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT WOULD YOU DO ALL DAY?

I would travel and see the world.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?

Doing pretty much what I’m doing now.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?

I define success as the contribution you make to society as an individual.

IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO START YOUR CAREER OVER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?

I would have bought 1000 bitcoins back in 2009.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE THE TOP THREE SKILLS NEEDED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR?

1. Listening to everybody, but make the right choice

2. Be nice to people on the way up

3. Don’t buy things because other people think they look good

IF YOU HAD A MAGIC STICK, WHICH ARE THE THREE THINGS YOU WOULD CHANGE IN THE WORLD?

1. Make access to food/water/shelter a basic human right.

2. Stop pushing global warming onto the public and legislate for companies to change.

3. Space tourism to happen quicker

So if you are looking for a place to stay in Manchester, this is the place for you. Give Jeff or Guy a call on 0161 792 6667

and you will get the very best service, and will be warmly welcomed by the Hazeldean hotel team.
